A major police operation remains underway near Maryborough, Queensland, after a police officer was shot while responding to a serious incident at Yengarie on Friday evening.
According to Queensland authorities, officers were called to a disturbance at a property on Horizon Court at approximately 5:45 p.m. During the response, a 36-year-old Queensland Police constable sustained a gunshot wound. Reports indicate the officer was shot in the leg and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remains in stable condition and is receiving specialist medical care.
The incident has prompted a significant emergency response involving multiple police units, including marked and unmarked vehicles. Authorities have confirmed that the operation remains active as officers continue efforts to safely resolve the situation involving an armed man at the property.
The Queensland Police Union (QPU) has stated that the injured officer is receiving expert medical treatment and that support is being provided to both the officer and immediate family members. Authorities have also reportedly disconnected power to more than 100 nearby properties as a precautionary safety measure during the ongoing response.
